Gripes about Microsoft products is a water cooler talk and a favorite pass time of many geeks especially in the valley. Just today I was having lunch with some folks and the discussion involved some comments about how nothing Microsoft does ever makes sense to them. Why Vista, why Zune, why AdCenter etc etc etc. Why Microsoft bothers to create products like Zune when they know they cant trump iPods? Why Microsoft cant make an OS like Leapard?
I tried to defend Microsoft as much as I can but how could one guy be enough for 3 guys that too with a burrito in his mouth. yeah!
It is not that only Microsoft products have problems, the fact is just that those stories get more coverage because of their large footprint (ok, of some MS products, you Zune haters).

iPhone 3G, Macs , MobileMe are having huge problems for Apple. The complaints have been given some teeth by people like Arrington. But I bet these are not being discussed at many lunch hours in the valley. That is so unfair.
There are instances of failed implementation of SAP, delayed projects of Siebel, hugely unsuccessfull integrations of Oracle Fusion. And these products and projects cost much more than average Microsoft projects. But still the bandwagon is pretty huge against Microsoft.
It doesnt show poorly on Microsoft as much as it reflects on ignorance of these assumingly “expert” geeky professionals.
